This is a Camphor Chest from China with Exquisite people scenic décor on the outside. Has a lattice insert that sits in the upper part of the inside of the box. (See picture).

Camphor Chests were used in the 18th and 19th centuries to carry tea, silks, and porcelain made products from China and delivered to Europe and America. Oriental families also used them to store blankets, clothes, linen, food and personal papers.
These chests are made from Camphor wood which is a natural repellent from moths and wood boring insects.
This one be excellent to use for storing any personal items and can be out to be admired for the great Chinese artistic mural displayed on most of the sides.
